$1,500 for training for the coordinator of SART, the Broome County
Sexual Assault Response Team (Broome)
Girl Scouts—Indian Hills Council
$1,500 toward a life skills outreach program for girls at the Binghamton
Boys and Girls Club (Broome)
2006 Women’s Fund Grants
Total Dollars Awarded: $6,000
Catholic Charities of Chenango County
$3,000 toward the Women’s Empowerment Bank Scholarship program, to
provide rental security deposits for women who face economic challenges
in leaving situations of domestic abuse (Chenango)
Danielle House
$2,000 to provide up to 200 days of housing at Danielle House for women
with breast cancer being treated at Lourdes or UHS Hospitals in Greater
Binghamton, or for their families when visiting the women during a
hospital stay (Broome)
Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHA)
$1,000 toward the “Choices” program, a mentoring program at Whitney
Point School District to assist young women who inflict self-harm as a
coping mechanism, helping them to make healthier choices for themselves
(Broome)
2005 Women’s Fund Grants
Total Dollars Awarded: $5,000
Broome County Council of Churches
$700 toward staff costs for an educator for the “New Beginnings”
program, which works to empower incarcerated women or the families of
those incarcerated in order to reduce recidivism (Broome)
Broome-Tioga ARC
$1,300 toward equipment and supplies for the “Caring for Ourselves and
Others” program, which offers skill building and continued education to
women with cognitive, intellectual and other developmental disabilities
(Broome)
YWCA of Cortland
$3,000 toward the “Model Moms” program, which provides companionship and
information on nutrition, food preparation, budgeting, good parenting
techniques and exercise to young at-risk mothers who otherwise lack a
strong support system (Cortland)

Action for Older Persons (AOP)
$800 for the project, “Taking Care of Business: A Financial Course for
Women Approaching Retirement” (Broome)
Family Enrichment Network
$400 toward the Internet Safety Safari project, a program to teach
teenage girls how to avoid being victimized via the Internet (Broome)
Girl Scouts – Indian Hills Council
$800 to assist two low-income at-risk girls with scholarships, case
management services and troop membership fees relating to the Scouts’
Thirteenth Moon Program (Broome, Chenango, Delaware)
SOS Shelter
$400 for purchase of books for the “Pattern Changing for Teens” project,
a program designed to prevent girls age 16 – 21 from becoming involved
in abusive relationships (Broome)
